Congratulations to Josh Reynolds on his victory in the constituency of Maidenhead. It has been a very good night for the Liberal Democrats.
Maidonians have shown they are unhappy to continue with the same politics and have demanded a change.
Josh will have his work cut out to deliver on constituents' priorities: on healthcare and on the cost of living.
Meanwhile, I hope Josh has taken note of the number of votes cast for my platform of electoral reform, and the significant number of spoilt ballots marked "REFORM." The country is crying out for it, and I hope he will do his best to remind this new Labour supermajority that it has been voted in on the lowest popular vote of any government in history and I hope he will use his platform to advocate for a fairer electoral system in the future.
A vote for George Wright was and is a vote for reform, for St Mark's Hospital, for green spaces and for public transport provision - and I intend to lobby for these priorities on the support my voters have given me even though I have not today been elected.
To each and every one of you who voted for me: thank you for your support. 1.6% is an impressive result for a new independent candidate and will remind our new MP that he is being lent this vote through tactical voting after many years of incompetent Tory Council leadership and national government - and that for many locals, it is respect for their local concerns which comes first.
I wish Josh Reynolds the best of luck in his new role.
